Reference Librarian

 

The Mountainside Public Library (Union County) is looking for a part-time Reference Librarian to work Tuesday nights 5:30Pm to 9:00PM, and one Saturday a month and substitute hours as needed, including evenings and weekends. 

Duties Include:

  • Reference Services to visitors of all ages
  • Interlibrary Loan
  • Collection Management
  • Assist with circulation desk, as needed
  • Recommend new services and programs
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements

  • MLS Degree
  • Strong customer service, teamwork and technology skills

 

Starting Salary - $25/hour

Office Manager/Administrative Assistant

Job Duties

Financial

  • Organizes and maintains Library financial records in Quick Books
  • Reconciles bank statement monthly
  • Performs cash drawer reconciliations and prepares bank deposits.
  • Prepares monthly financial statements for board reports
  • Prepares annual financial statements for yearly audit
  • Maintains record of grants, charitable gifts and donations to the library.

Payroll/Human Resources

  • Submits payroll information to Borough Payroll Department bi-weekly.
  • Ensures proper paperwork is submitted to Borough Payroll Department for new employees.

Purchasing

  • Serves as the libraries purchasing agent, including communication with vendors, maintaining vendor files, preparing purchase orders and following up on orders.

Director’s Assistant

  • Prepares and assembles monthly Board Meeting packet

Office Manager

  • Maintains record of products used; order supplies, checks them in, approves invoices and assists staff in the proper preparation of Purchase Orders

 

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with QuickBooks and/or bookkeeping knowledge a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Office – especially excel
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and be self-directed
  • Manage detail, recognize and set priorities, meet deadlines, work quickly and accurately, follow directions and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work assignments
  • Customer service experience
  • A valid NJ Driver’s License

 

This is a part-time position, working 20 hours/week. Regular work hours are 9:00-1:00 Monday to Friday. Salary is $16/hr
