Mountainside Library Book Swap
June 2009
A chance for children to exchange books and keep on reading!
Over 60 children from grades K through 8 participated.
Altogether, over 350 books were swapped. 
 

 

 

 

 

Plays in the Parking Lot 2009:  "The Odyssey"
The Next Stage Ensemble of the Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey
was here on Friday, June 26 to perform a special one-hour adaptation of
Homer's epic, "The Odyssey," complete with a Cyclops!

The Company will return on August 8th to perform "The Taming of the Shrew"

 
 

 

 

   

 

 

Butterfly Gardening
Butterfly expert Rick Mikula, operator of the Hole-In-Hand Butterfly
Farm in Hazelton, PA, visited us on Thursday, June 4th.  His presentation
was very informative and very well attended.
 
 

 

 

   

 

 

Story Time
Story times are held regularly throughout the year, with
specially planned sessions for various age groups.  Story times
are an excellent way to foster creativity and promote early

Family Game Night

Who would have guessed that bubbles could not only be

Folk Music Cafe
Our popular music program, begun in Oct '08, transforms the library
meeting room into a cozy, all-acoustic music venue.  Join us for great music and delicious
desserts. 2009 Folk Music Cafe will be held on one Thursday per month (except for August) throughout
the year.  Admission is free.  Funded by a grant from the Watts Mountainside Community Foundation.
 
 
   

 

 

Music & Trivia of the 1950s
Local musician and big band leader David Aaron was back in Mountainside
on January 23rd to give a fun and interesting lecture on popular music from the 50s. 
 
 

 

 

Mark the Magician -- January 26, 2009
Fun for the whole family as Mark the Magician entertained the
crowd with this program "Mysteries in the Library."
All kids received a kazoo souvenir of the program.
 

 

 

 

Music Adventures for Children
A chance to sing, dance and play to music... and even make up their own songs. 
Explore music, rhythm and movement.  A popular program geared for fun.
