December 5, 2017

December and the Holiday season are fast approaching! Come to the library to check out some of our wonderful programming and bring home a book or movie to enjoy during these cold, dark evenings.

November programming is wrapping up with our Art of Crossword Puzzle Creation program on Thursday the 30th at 7pm and December has a lovely slate of programming. Mountainside favorite Skip Ungar is back on the 16th for a Broadway & Hollywood Holiday Song performance, Benjamin Eckman returns to discuss Elder and Estate law on the 11th and the 3rd and final part of the Genealogy Series with Sandy VanderMeer is at 5:30pm on the 7th. We have a lot of fun programming for Children including “A Peacock Surprise” presented by Enjoy Explore India on the 1st, a visit from author Matt Phelan on December 2nd, and our traditional Holiday Card Workshop on the 9th. Our usual programs are all running this month, with the Brown Bag Academy on Mondays at 1:15, popular movies every Tuesday night, and we have an Opera – Un Ballo in Maschera – on the 8th.

Museum Pass of the Month: The Newark Museum

The Newark Museum is the largest museum in the state of New Jersey. The museum offers many art collections, natural science exhibitions and the Ballantine House (the Newark Beer Brewing Family’s home, which is now a historical landmark). There are interactive exhibitions for people of all ages and a Planetarium (which requires a separate fee). The museum is open Wednesday-Sunday from Noon-5pm. And the 2nd Sunday of the month there is a free brunch from 12-4pm.

The Friends of the Mountainside Public Library have made two passes available for the Newark Museum. Each pass allows 2 adults and children to enter.

Please note there is a parking lot located immediately behind the Museum.

We will be closed on the 25th and 26th for Christmas and on the 1st of January for New Years.
