Welcome to the Friends of the Mountainside Library page. For more than 60 years, the Friends have played a significant role in creating and nurturing this important, vibrant community resource. The Friends fund >90% of the Library's programming as well as new initiatives and upgrades that continue to make the Mountainside Public Library special.
The Friends is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization as determined by the Internal Revenue Service. 100% of our fundraising proceeds go directly to the Library. All Mountainside residents receive our annual newsletter in the Fall, but we happily accept donations year ‘round. Click here for a donation form. Your donation makes you a Friends member.
In November 2021, we were delighted to hold our first in-person book sale inside the library since our abbreviated March 2020 sale, which was canclled after the preview night due to COVID-19. The November 2021 sale was especially important to the Friends since there was such a good community response to two outdoor book sales last Spring, and the November sale did not disappoint.
We expect to have another book sale this coming Spring and we're planning the return of our Spring Boutique in time for Mothers' Day gift buying. Details to be announced. Our popular free virtual presentation series celebrated its first anniversary in Janaury 2022. You'll find the schedule here. And of course we are continuing our support of the library's programs for children and adults.
The Friends of the Mountainside Library webpage will be updated periodically. Please stay tuned and please come to the Library, whether it’s in person, curbside or electronically. The Library is here for you! You can find current hours and policies elsewhere on this website.
A surprise! Martha SpeaksTM visited our book sale and made lots of friends. Here are just a few.
